【In the future or In future】少了the，那是什麼樣的未來？

過去用到未來「future」這個字，老師都會教說要加定冠詞「the」。確實，過去沒有接觸到英式英語時，大部分的情況都是不加「the」。也因此很多學習美式英語的同學，不論是什麼情況，大多會加「the」。

　

但英式英語中是有分別的！

　

簡單的說，in the future就是大家較熟悉的「未來」，而in future所要表達的是「從今天開始」、「從今以後」的意思。

　

“in future” means “from now on and always”

例如：In future, because of the repaid inflation, people will need to pay more for their living.

從今天起，因為通貨迅速膨脹的關係，大家需要為生活，付出的更多。

　

“in the future” means “at/from some future point in time”
例如：In the future, because of greenhouse effect, people may try to live on Mars . 未來，因為溫室效應的關係，人們可能要試著到火星生活。
